The story behind the name- My great grandfather Benjamin Fainhand arrived in Argentina in 1923. He left Poland with his wife Chaia (or Juana in Spanish) landed in a small village in Patagonia, San Julian. He opened a small tailor shop and did custom-made traditional garments for gentlemen with his brother David. He had two daughters, my grandmother Maria and her sister Rosa. Being women, they didn’t pass the surname to new members of the family. More than 80 years later, I opened my studio and named it after him, to prolong its existence. I want Fainhand to be a record of his creativity and craftsmanship, which passed thru generations. |
